Abstract:
In this paper, the analysis and design of a multiphase resonant converter suitable for highcurrent battery charger applications is presented. The inverter stage of the converter is obtained from the parallel connection of three class D LCp resonant inverters, increasing the output current capability of the circuit. The regulation of the charging current is implemented at constant frequency by adjusting the phase displacement angles of the drive signals of the inverter sections. The battery charger is designed to provide a maximum charging current, Io=15 A to a high-performance Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery; widely used in microhybrid vehicles.
