Abstract:
Within the scope of a governmental funded project (FKZ: 16ES0208) new technologies for stationary storages or non-centralized energy sources shall be developed. Amongst other focal points the electronic DC-DC power converter should work in the range from 50kVA – 250kVA. A suitable method to reach the goals of high energy density, compactness, high efficiency and moderate costs is the significant increment of the switching frequency. SiC based devices in a hard switching circuit topology are enablers to drive the high frequency transformer which is purposed for galvanic isolation. The reduction of switching losses in the ferrite based transformer core material together with high current conductor winding techniques lead to a significant improvement of the system effectiveness. The paper describes an interim development status of this novel passive transformer unit.
