Abstract:
LLC resonant converters are well known for their ability of resonant switching and reduced switching losses over a wide load range. Different specifications make it difficult to implement a design. Input and output voltage range, frequency width, size and stress of passive components are just a few of them. This contribution deals with a design mythology considering the below and above resonance mode of LLC resonant converter by a limited frequency range as well as a maximum resonant tank voltage. The paper describes two ways for designing the resonant tank parameters. Every method is based on a theoretical analysis followed by a simulative investigation. A worst-case analysis is also included to cover the impact of component tolerances and the major voltage drops. Furthermore advantages and drawbacks of both methods are pointed out. The result is verified on a prototype.
