Abstract:
This work describes a method for balancing of the cell capacitor voltages in a modular multi-level converter arm with phase-shift modulation. The voltage equalization control structure is developed using symmetrical transformation approach under consideration of the cell insertion index limitations. Proposed method is compared to sorting equalization algorithm in terms of converter control dynamics, equalization behavior and losses.
