Abstract:
This manuscript presents a novel adaptive transmission scheme in time-division duplex systems for the filter bank multicarrier concept offset-quadrature amplitude-modulated orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OQAM-OFDM). To make use of channel frequency-selectivity, bit loading based on the channel state information obtained in the receive direction is applied. Conventional signaling to synchronize transmitter and receiver information about the bit allocation table is avoided in favor of an automatic modulation classification at the receiver side in order to reduce overhead losses. Numerical investigations are carried out for typical wireless local area network scenarios in order to analyze the classification reliability and the achievable effective bandwidth efficiency. Simulation results reveal the superior system performance of the proposed adaptive OQAM-OFDM scheme compared with non-adaptive transmission and also the well-known cyclic prefix OFDM approach
