Abstract:
This paper develops a demonstration system to prove the concept of mmWave integrated 5G heterogeneous networks (HetNet). Distinctive features of the developed demonstration system are four-fold. The one is world fastest mmWave access at 60 GHz band between a small-cell BS and a smartphone terminal achieving 6.1 Gbps. The second is 60 GHz 32x32 massive elements antenna to provide special shape of communication area. The third is mmWave backhaul between small-cell BSs and a gateway with full-duplex capability to enhance the spectral efficiency. The last is contents centric networking over the HetNet to realize seamless service between commercial LTE and mmWave accesses. In the demonstration, pedestrian users experience to download 1 GB file with just 1.3 s when passing through the area of mmWave access.
