Abstract:
We demonstrate a miniaturized electronic sensing platform based on top-down fabricated silicon nanowire field effect transistors (FETs) for specific detection of Salmonella typhimurium from environmental water samples. To realize the successful detection of the bacteria we propose to use (a) the honeycomb assembly of the nanowires within a FET for better gate control and stable device performance, and (b) phage isolated peptides used as specific binding receptors.
