Abstract:
Current control scheme which enables 500-kW solar inverter with boost chopper to ride through symmetrical grid voltage changes without gate blocking is described. The goal is to comply with the updated Japanese grid codes on solar inverters. Ideas of the scheme are a) fast feed-forward control of grid voltage, and b) cooperative operation of boost chopper and grid-side inverter in case of grid faults. The first idea enables to avoid AC over current, and the second one enables to avoid over voltage at DC-link circuit. The validity of the control scheme is confirmed by full-load fault-ride-through tests.
