Abstract:
Currently the microgrids (MGs) have been achieving a notable importance. A MG is defined by a set of microsources of electric power, loads and storage elements, which can operate connected or disconnected from the main grid. One important converter in a MG with master-slave configuration is the grid-forming converter (GFC) that generates a reference in voltage and frequency for islanded operation. A failure of GFC can jeopardize the MG operation. This paper presents one analysis of an AC MG in islanded mode composed by a new configuration of GFC formed by three single-phase full-bridge inverters connected in δ with a zigzag transformer to form a fourwire system. The main results show that even under a failure of one inverter, the GFC can operate in open-δ and the MG continues operating without any power quality (PQ) problems.
