Abstract:
This paper proposes a new design and implementation of an isolated bidirectional dc-dc converter to interface between a high voltage DC bus (HVDC) and a low voltage DC battery (LVDC). It features zero voltage switching regardless of the direction of the power flow, resulting in lower switching losses and an efficient converter. The details operation principles, as well as the design considerations, are presented. The simulation and experimental results have validated the characteristics of the converter. A prototype, which interfaces a 400 V dc bus and 48 V battery bank with a power rating of 2.5 kW, was developed to verify the validity and applicability of this proposed converter.
