Abstract:
Novel gate drivers for the controlling of IGBTs connected in series are presented. Each module generates the needed energy for gate control by the voltage drop across the corresponding power semiconductor. Furthermore, the gate driver is controlled by an infrared signal simultaneously transmitted to all modules by a free-air transmission. The design has been filed a patent.
