Abstract:
This paper presents an Integrated Power Unit (IPU) incorporated with an Integrated Power Module (IPM) based on the double side cooling technology. The IPU is used as the motor control inverter in the electric vehicle. The IPM is packaged with the latest 650 V trench field-stop IGBT device and double side cooling technology, by which the reliability and thermal performance has been greatly improved. Compared to the DLC (Direct Liquid Cooling) Pin-Fin single side cooling module, thermal resistance has been reduced by 23 % according to the test. Equipped with the dedicatedly developed active gate driver, not only the operation area has been largely extended but also power losses of the IPM are greatly reduced. Operation of IPU with battery voltage up to DC450V and output phase current AC450Arms has been achieved at high efficiency. Test results of IPM and IPU system are presented.
