Abstract:
Small power supplies are produced in very high volumes. Therefore, it is advisable to conduct extensive optimizations to minimize component costs. This is preferentially achieved in an early design phase through accurate simulations. The paper applies time-discrete modeling for this purpose. The presented method enables fast and reliable zero crossing detection using Lipschitz constants. Part of the problem is finding the right simulation time step size which has to strike a balance between performance (bigger steps are beneficial) and zero-detection reliability (smaller steps are beneficial). The proposed automated step size selection promises improvements in computing efficiency while guaranteeing high reliability.
