Abstract:
New mobile applications are pushing the limits on the requirements of mobile networks. Higher data rates, larger volume of data and lower latency are among the requirements of future networks. Toward those goals, we propose a new architecture to provide higher data rates, supporting large number of devices, at lower cost and better energy consumption ratings. The architecture is based on forming a cloud of on-demand mobile small cells, using user equipment or remote radio units. The cloud of mobile small cells is connected to the mobile network through a wireless high-speed front-haul, built on network-coding and cooperative communications. Due to continuous variation in network conditions, the cloud of mobile small cells is self-organizing. Security issues are highlighted and counter mechanisms are discussed.
