Abstract:
In order to allow for the participation of wind parks in primary voltage control of the network, a fast voltage droop control, e.g. Q(U), is required. As droop control is potentially oscillatory, the control has to be designed carefully. We illustrate the influence of the basic system parameters on stability of Q(U)-controlled wind parks. An analytic relation between stability and these basic parameters is derived and we introduce a simple rule of thumb for pre-designing a wind park Q(U) control. Furthermore, the stability of a decentralized control system formed by several parks in the same grid region is analyzed and the influence of cross-coupling between them is illustrated.
