Power-to-Gas (PtG) technology in today’s regulatory setting faces various difficulties. Most solutions neither satisfy economical nor ecological pecifications of potential operators. Both economic and ecological operation is possible with a biomass-driven approach of PtG whose operational concept is not only based on remuneration for renewables on the one hand or on sheer market-driven operation on the other hand, but also on congestion management in the power transmission grid. This paper shows the potential of such a PtG technology depending on remnant biomass resources and power grid-related requests for congestion management.
