Abstract:
Nowadays, systems based on DC technologies are gaining importance in power systems, and in the future even more. This novel technologies will change the current dynamics of the grid, leading to unexpected responses. This paper aims to analyse the harmonic stability and interaction in AC grid when including DC technologies. To this aim, this paper applies the impedance based model and the Nyquist stability criterion techniques to analyse the stability of HVDC converters in an AC power system in the frequency domain. Results show how the overall admittance changes from the inner-loop to the outer-loop, and also shows the influence of controller gains on the harmonic stability and resonances via parametric analysis.
