Abstract:
The integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) affects different operation aspects of distribution networks - for example, protection systems and power quality. In order to determine and evaluate the effect of DER integration within distribution networks, a realistic network model is necessary that allows an accurate evaluation and simulation of these effect and countermeasures. Reference Network Models (RNMs) are a suitable alternative for this purpose and a benchmark of real distribution networks. In this paper a methodology to build RNMs from public data is introduced, which main advantage is the characterization of regional parameters (e.g. load distribution) allowing an accurate assessment in different studies (e.g. DER integration).
