Abstract:
Dynamic performance of a lab-scale modular multilevel converter and an equivalent model for real-time simulation are compared and presented. Detailed model of MMC is implemented in FPGA with simulation time steps in the nanosecond range. Test bench and the real-time MMC model are controlled by same high-level controller. This controller regulates active and reactive power as well as the energy distribution inside the sub-module capacitors.
