Abstract:
This paper investigates the overall measuring accuracy of conventional current sensors at high motor speeds and compares it with new low cost solutions. State-of-the-art systems are presumed to show high datasheet accuracy but low bandwidth. It was found that a typical bandwidth of 30 kHz depletes the excellent accuracy and causes dynamic errors that exceed stated datasheet values by far. In contrast, new methods like VCE(on)-based measurement with higher bandwidth, while suffering from poorer stationary accuracy, are found to enable comparable overall accuracy but with significant lower costs.
