Abstract:
Inductively coupled plasmas benefit from a high frequency alternating current in the MHz range. We present a loss characterization of a resonant halfbridge switching mode inverter with an output frequency of about 2.5MHz. The inverter uses IXYS SiC-MOSFETs in the MiniBLOC package. We show design and layout guidelines, measurement results on a prototype and a breakdown of the total losses to the losses of each component. The losses are discussed in detail, including hints for optimization.
