Abstract:
This paper presents the advantages of integrated On-Chip current sense on an IGBT compared to a classical DESAT detection for Over Current Protection (OCP). The working principle of On-Chip current sensor, a method of selecting suitable sense resistor (Rsense) for HybridPACK(TM) DSC (FF400R07A01E3_S6), an Infineon’s automotive qualified power module and the characterization of sense voltage (Vsense) during switching are explained. Finally a possible and easy approach for implementing On-Chip current sense by enabling OCP function at EiceDRIVER(TM) SENSE (1EDI2010AS), an Infineon’s gate driver for an automotive inverter application is discussed in this paper.
