Abstract:
The strains induced by a large electric field were measured for the PLZT ceramics. Three types of strain which were involved with an inverse piezoelectric effect, an electrostriction and a forced phase transition, were measured. A strain of 0.24 %, large enough for high performance actuators, was observed under 40 kV/cm for the 8.4/70/30 composition.
