Abstract:
In the transport system of a thin steel plate production line, the quality of the plate surface deteriorates over time because of contact with rollers. As a solution to this problem, we have proposed a magnetic levitation system for the steel plate with simultaneously horizontal positioning control and vertical non-contact support, using the horizontal electromagnets. We have carried out the electromagnetic analysis and obtained that vertical force for support steel plate and horizontal force for suppress elastic vibration are acted to the steel plate. In this study, we carried out levitation experiments to obtained support characteristic of electromagnet used in the system. As the result, the electromagnet installed in the horizontal direction effects on the vertical vibration of the steel plate and benefit for stable levitation.
