Abstract:
The response time of MR damper depends on several factors such as concentration of Fe particles and material of magnetic coils. In this work, a new type of MR damper which can produce much faster response time than conventional MR damper is designed and manufactured. After evaluating the time response to achieve the field-dependent damping force, MR damper is installed to the semi-active suspension system. Subsequently, suspension performances such as ride comfort and road holding are investigated as a function of the time response. In this evaluation, a simple, but very effective a skyhook controller is implemented.
