Abstract:
In this paper, we compare the characteristic behaviour of different PZT ceramics with low and high Curie temperature to one PMN-PT material for micro actuator applications. This includes the measurement of the nonlinear transverse charge coefficient at high electric field strengths and related quantities such as the Young’s modulus, relative permittivity, coercive field and their temperature dependencies. We find that PMN-PT has no advantage in a typical bending actuator configuration. In addition, we investigate the operation of PZT against their direction of polarization.
