Abstract:
This paper presents the special feature and suitable application of Coupled-Mode Theory (CMT) and Electrical Circuit Theory (ECT) in modeling and analyzing of Magnetic Resonant Wireless Power Transmission (MR-WPT) system. Loop current, output power, power transfer efficiency (PTE) and energy exchange between transmitting and receiving resonant coils are calculated by CMT and ECT, respectively. The results of theoretic analysis for 2-coil MR-WPT system are compared in steady and transient state to analyze the accuracy of the two methods. The analysis with 3-coil MR-WPT system is also shown in the paper. Finally, a 2-coil MR-WPT system is fabricated to verify the correctness of ECT. The results show that CMT is only applicable to the systems with high quality factor and small mutual coupling. ECT is applicable to all types of systems. CMT can simplify the analysis in multi-coil MR-WPT system compared to ECT.
