Abstract:
The adsorption of vanillin onto fresh calcium phosphate was studied. The adsorption kinetic was tested and the kinetic data were best described by the pseudo-second order model. The equilibrium behavior of vanillin adsorption was examined by the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. The equilibrium data fitted well with the Langmuir model. The monolayer adsorption capacity of vanillin was found as 7.04, 6.67, 6.32, 6.06, 5.87 and 5.85 mg/g, corresponding to different amount of sucrose in solution (from 0 to 10%). The results indicated that fresh calcium phosphate could be used as an adsorbent for removal of phenolic substance in sugarcane juice.
