The conception and practical implementation of a campus microgrid with multiple storage facilities in Nuremberg is investigated in this paper. Fundamental basics and definitions of microgrids are presented as well as the layout of the microgrid system. Beginning with an analysis of the local load, the dimensioning of the photovoltaics array is shown based on a modelling approach. An overview over multiple storage types is applied to select suitable systems with special focus to research purposes. The validation of the modelling approach is presented through a series of measurement from the implemented microgrid.
