Abstract:
Miniaturized intelligent human-machine interfaces (HMI) are getting feasible with sensor technology advances and embedded high-performance signal processing in small muC. This allows the interface integration in everyday objects, increasing the user experience. In this work, ultrasound is proposed as a new technology to develop a new touchless HMI system. The ultrasound signals are generated and detected with off-the-shell MEMS devices, the challenge is the control of actuation and sensing by an embedded muC in the sensor. Target applications are mobile phones, headphones orother touchless controllers with low power demand.
