Abstract:
Electrical submersible pumps (ESPs) are often used in deep sea offshore oil production sites. The system used to drive such pumps is usually composed of a medium voltage inverter followed by an LC-filter, a step-up transformer, a long shielded cable and the electrical motor. The inverters present limited switching frequency due to the employed power semiconductors. This work proposes a Model-based Synchronous Optimal Modulation to drive such systems and achieve reduced load current distortion while limiting the switching frequency.
