Abstract:
In this paper, a low cost current sensing method by evaluating the parasitic voltage between emitter and auxiliary emitter of a power semiconductor module is examined. This approach was studied with regard to its application in motor control. Due to the high requirements in measurement accuracy, sampling has to take place at instances of time, which are not appropriate for the control section. To overcome this problem, different approaches were developed, which provide more sampling points during a PWM current pulse. These methods were examined by simulation to state an appropriate solution and a sensible compromise between complexity and performance.
