Abstract:
This paper presents a novel, control-based approach for soft-switching operation of a single-phase PWM inverter with high switching frequencies of up to 400 kHz. Model-based and optimal control theory is used together with classical gain scheduling in order to obtain an adaptive linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) controller. Modeling and controller synthesis are complemented by a practical verification of the concept, based on prototype measurements, and with a theoretical analysis of the soft-switching operating region verified by simulation and measurements.
