Abstract:
This manuscript evaluates two different power electronics-based ferroresonance damping devices in isolated neutral MV distribution electrical grids. The evaluated devices are based on the Boost and Flyback topologies operated in continuous conduction mode (CCM) and critical conduction mode (CrCM) respectively to achieve near resistor emulator at the input. The experimental tests show the performance of both converters in controlling the extraction of the ferrorresonance energy and therefore damping subharmonic and fundamental ferroresonances.
