Abstract:
A downscaled experimental platform for testing control and protection systems for MMC-based HVDC links is presented. The platform consists of four modular multilevel converters, emulated DC lines and real-time simulation of a medium size power grid connected to the hardware equipment though power interface consisting of two high-bandwidth linear power amplifiers. Experimental results for bipolar point-to-point configuration are presented.
