Abstract:
Proliferation of Power electronics is causing power-quality issue with regard to harmonics and common-mode voltages at the grid-edge. The voltage-source inverters are inherently weaker due to common-mode voltage in this context. However, the current-sourced inverters generate pure-sinusoidal voltages and thus have an edge on the voltage-sourced inverters in the grid integration of renewables. This paper presents a current-sourced, unity power-factor, controller for grid integration. The controller is unique in the structure that it is named as "Voltage-Mode-Current-Controller". The simulation results show that the inner voltage-loops with the outer current-loop suppresses the LC oscillations effectively due to the dead-beat voltage controller.
