Abstract:
This paper presents a “Front end” power converter compatible with all the existing spacecraft power bus. It works from DC18V to DC110V for the input voltage, from DC3V to DC6V for the output voltage and from 0W to 50W for the output power. To limit the resonnant current variation, impedance adaptation circuit called RCN is added at the transformer input. To manage the wide input and output voltages range, we use phase modulation in a full bridge topology. To minimize losses and to decrease the switching losses, the converter works in soft switching mode for the whole range of load values. This innovative power conversion structure allows to work near the resonant point regardless of the load. This document compares our new structure to a classic LLC structure. The advantages and disadvantages of the two structures are discussed and a conclusion to our study is provided.
