Abstract:
In battery-fed pulse-width modulated inverters, the DC-link capacitor represents a limiting factor in terms of power density. A proper DC-link capacitor design requires an accurate prediction of the DC-link voltage and current ripple. Unfortunately, only a small number of papers investigates the DC-link voltage ripple in pulse-width modulated inverters. Thus, this paper proposes a simulation method for calculating the DC-link voltage ripple in battery-fed pulse-width modulated two-level three-phase voltage-source inverters. Based on the proposed calculation method, parameter studies are performed investigating the influence of various parameters on the DC-link voltage ripple.
