Abstract:
Optimal transport of loose material is a task in many applications all over the world, especially in mining. Generally, chain scrapers are used for the extraction of coal with AFCs (Armored Face Conveyors). The system consists of a mechanical part and electrical drives fed by power converters. Designing a controller for such a system, with respect to the service lifetime, is not trivial. Models were created for the controller design and a load reducing controller was developed. As the system can not simply be assembled for testing due to its size, a simulation model of a test stand is derived and simulated together with the load reducing controller.
