Abstract:
An averaged circuit model for a constant frequency operated clamp-switch ZVS boost converter is derived. The model is suitable for use with standard circuit simulation programs, e.g. SPICE, and can be used to predict the large and small signal behavior of the converter. Compared to the conventional PWM switch model for the discontinuous conduction mode, the influence of the resonant capacitor charging interval and the clamp current is modelled more correctly, which is verified by comparing the proposed model to cycle by cycle simulations and small signal measurements on a prototype converter.
