Abstract:
The supply of industry and civil infrastructure with electrical energy is one of todays challenges. Due to the increase of renewable energy power plants the amount of power converters increases as well. Therefore, new grid control strategies have to be developed. Todays models, e.g. for a wind turbine generator system, are complex including aerodynamics, drive train, generator, converter and a dynamic grid model. With the complexity of the models, the calculation time increases. This paper presents two approaches to distribute a model to several computers. Furthermore, a custom FPGA and PCIe based communication interface is built. The data transmission times are measured and compared to common ethernet networks. Additionaly, different types of parallelisation for mathematical operations will be considered.
