Abstract:
In this paper the design and operation of a bidirectional 50 kW DC-charger is presented. The two-staged system consists of an active front-end converter and a series-resonant converter with variable input-to-output voltage conversion ratio using pulse-skipping. This setup is able to achieve a voltage range from 200 V up to 940 V. The full charging/discharging power can be reached at voltages from 320 V up to 940 V. To keep the volume of the converter relatively small, a switching frequency from 95 kHz to 120 kHz is chosen. In order to reduce switching losses of the DC/DC-Stage, a soft-switching scheme is applied which leads to ZVS on the powering side and ZCS at load side.
