Abstract:
In this paper, the controller synthesis and real–time testing in a grid side converter (GSC) system is discussed. Firstly, a cascade control structure is employed to control the DC–link voltage. The inner current loops are implemented using standard PI controllers with feed–forward compensation. The DC–link voltage is controlled using a model reference adaptive controller. A simulation model implemented in Simscape(TM) Electrical(TM) is used to evaluate the control algorithm in real–time on a Speedgoat real–time system with a field–programmable gate array (FPGA) board. The plant model is deployed on the FPGA and the controller is deployed on the CPU. The real–time results show the effectiveness of the proposed solution.
