Abstract:
In this paper, a highly integrated boost converter with an exceptionally high power density of 98.1 kW/dm3 and 56.3 kW/kg including control hardware is presented. The high power density is achieved by the use of high-frequency optimized magnetics based on 3D-printed bobbins, a combined 3D-printed miniature fluid cooler for the dissipation of transistor and inductor losses and discrete SiC MOSFETs operated at a high switching frequency of 450 kHz. This allows an output power of 20.6 kW to be realized within a volume of 0.21 dm3.
