Abstract:
In this paper, a new approach for the quantification of German energy distribution systems performance is presented. It focusses future systems with a high share of renewable energy sources but can also be applied to existing systems. In contrast to regulatory requirements in Germany, that focus unsupplied customers, also the measures needed to guarantee the provision of system services are considered. The formula for calculating a weighted system performance indicator (SPI) is applied to a SimBench medium voltage grid with different critical load and generation situations. The simulations show how the SPI serves as a metric to distinguish the performance of grids even in cases without lost load. It allows a differentiation of grid performance based on measures ensuring system reliability.
