Abstract:
Open industrial DC grids have many advantages. Also new challenges arise by coupling several DC link capacitors of inverters. This paper shows at which locations and by which events overvoltages can occur. Furthermore, the paper shows solutions for the protection of single devices, such as drive inverters, or several devices in a system to withstand potential faults. In particular, robustness in the event of faults plays a key role. The statements are supported by measurements on a DC grid with real devices.
