Abstract:
This paper proposes a new fixed admittance matrix technique for real time power electronics simulation on Matlab/Simulink. The power electronics device in the new technique is modeled as two values resistor. However the contribution to the admittance matrix is a fixed admittance G=1/Ohm during both switching states and independent of the current direction, however different values are used in the history current vector. The new technique is suitable not only for real time and hardware in the loop simulation but also for large scale off-line simulation. A comparative study of the new technique with the associated discrete circuit (ADC) technique will be made on a grid connected 3-phase medium voltage 21-level modular multilevel converter to demonstrate the simulation speed and accuracy of the new technique.
