Abstract:
LLC converter design remains a challenging task as it is not straight-forward to choose the switching frequency range that can provide ZVS covering application dependent voltage gains, considering the fact that it is a complex function of Lm, Lr, Cr, and quality factor. This paper provides a new methodology to choose L-L-C components in favor of optimizing the transformer and inductor losses through an established gapped core magnetic design framework that considers multiple core stacks in an attempt to find the most efficient design. The established magnetic model is verified in Ansys Electronic Desktop and Simplorer co-simulation environment and utilized in favor of finding the best magnetic design using the provided core database.
