Abstract:
This paper presents the design of a modular multiphase SiC DC-DC converter with centralized DC-link. The focus of the research is on the optimal design of the connection busbars and decoupling capacitance between power module and DC-link. Therefore, three different module designs were analyzed and compared to a reference module. Simulation results reveal power loop inductance values of 1.38 nH to 7.94 nH per phase, clean and fast switching behavior for two of three modules and significantly reduced common mode EMI noise level in comparison to the reference. The switching losses were determined to 2.1mJ per switching operation at 600V/ 100 A. Even in the single digit nH-range, the power loop inductance shows a great impact on clean and reliable switching. Finally, the thermal behavior of the power modules is analyzed.
