Abstract:
The development of future automotive drive train inverters is mainly focused on three KPIs: Efficiency, peak power density and current density. To improve each of these values, various parameters on inverter level, module level and chip level can be adapted. This paper shows, how the different parameters like TJ,max, Tcool, Rth, Rds,on, Esw, UDC etc. influences the given KPIs. As a result of this investigation from Cree (SiC specialist), Danfoss (module specialist) and ZF (inverter specialist), it will be shown how all the parameters have to be optimized in order to improve the efficiency, peak power density and current density of a SiC inverter.
